What is velour?
It’s a characteristic fabric (velour textile is usually fabric, but knits are also available). What makes it different? Its uniqueness lies in the pile cover, also known as the hair or fibre cover, consisting of numerous strands. They form a surface that’s fluffy, soft, and extremely pleasant to the touch.

How is velour made?
Velour – a fabric which consists of two layers – a base made from two main threads and additional threads placed in the form of little loops between the main ones. After weaving (or knitting), the loops are cut (unless the aim is to create loop velour) and the newly created surface becomes pleasantly soft and gains the distinctive shine.

When producing velour fabric, natural fibres such as cotton, wool, or silk are most often used. To improve the textile’s parameters (mainly to increase its resistance to floss abrasion), synthetic additives (elastane, polyester, or lycra) are used more and more often in the production process.
