Depending on what you would like to achieve with your scented bag, you can use different herbs which are proven to have specific health benefits. For example, thyme is excellent for treating blisters. All you need to do it add two or three handfuls of thyme in to a linen pouch, seal the top and submerge in warm bath. People do it to ease the symptoms of bladder inflammation. Other natural herbs which make great home spas are chamomile, calendula and sage. These herbs ease inflammation of the skin. Furthermore lemon balm leaves can relax the body and reduce PMS symptoms such as mood swings and cramps.

How to get the most out of it

To achieve the maximum benefits from your therapeutic bath, it is best to relax in the herb-infused warm water for 15-20 minutes and the ideal temperature for the water is around 34-35º.

The bath bags can be used in a number of ways, for example a medium size linen bag can be hung from the tap, directly under a stream of warm water while you fill the bath. You can put then the bag in to the bath to continue to infuse the water. Alternatively, put the linen pouch in to a cup of boiling water and wait a few minutes for it to brew. The water along with the herb-filled pouch can then be added to the bath. Remember that the bath temperature isn’t too hot before getting in. Whichever method you choose, both will work effectively.
